The trawler "Chirsin" was captured from the Germans when the German fleet surrendered in the Forth in November 1918, and was used for guarding the interned fleet at Scapa Flow in Orkney, where it went from the Forth. Sir Stanley Nicolson of Brough Lodge, Fetlar, served as Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve on HMS Resolution during this time and he took this photograph. He was given command of the trawler "Chirsin". The image forms part of an album of World War 1 photographs found in Brough Lodge.
