The Free Kirk in Fetlar was built in the 1840s and in 1985 the building was renovated as the community hall. The Disruption in 1843 effectively split the Church of Scotland, and many broke away to form the Free Kirk. The Smith family at Smithfield in Fetlar, local merchants, were largely behind the building of the Free Kirk in Fetlar. |
