Probably 1920s or 30s The Tower at Brough Lodge was refurbished by Sir Arthur T.B.R. Nicolson in the early years of the 20th century, and lined with wood. At some point in its history, it was used as an astronomical observatory, and contained at least one telescope. The wooden footbridge gradually disintegrated with time.
