A painting by Sir Arthur J Nicolson. All members of the Nicolson family seem to have painted as a pastime, and some of the paintings have left us with a remarkable legacy of scenes of which there is no other historic record. This one shows the Haa of Urie, a 17th century mansion house in the north of Fetlar which belonged to the Bruce family until it passed to the Nicolsons in 1805 along with the estate. No photograph exists of the Haa with its upper storey so intact.
